The Birth of Oliver | Miami Birth Photographer

Mona & Rafa are very dear to my heart. I have captured both of their pregnancies, the birth of their fist son Nicholas and now the birth of their second son, Oliver! They love photography and they know that milestones like the birth of their children are among the most important memories they will ever have. At our per-consultation we spoke about my role at the birth; although they were very enthusiastic about me being there to capture such an important milestone, they wanted that very special moment of the actual birth to be private.

I met them at the hospital on December 27, 2012 around 11 pm. Rafael called to let me know that Mona had contractions and that they were heading to the hospital. Since we didn’t know how far along she was on labor I headed to the hospital immediately.  After a couple of hours we knew Oliver was not coming soon so I went back home to rest. I went back to the hospital that afternoon and stayed there for a couple of hours. After the Dr. came and checked on Mona, she assured me that the baby was not coming yet, so again I went home. All this time I was only 5 miles away from the hospital and my car was packed with my equipment, just in case I needed to rush there. Finally, on December 29 around 8 a.m Rafael called me to let me know Oliver was coming, I headed back to the hospital to captured Oliver’s first hour of life in this world! Here is his story:

Mona & Rafa, thank you so much for the opportunity. Indeed photographing the time before the birth and  that firs hour of Oliver in this world was AMAZING and so emotional! Thank you for your trust 🙂
