Ohhhh… had they ever been here in Miami in the summer? Because let me tell you, summer in England is very different than summer in South Florida!
After photographing more than 200 weddings in Miami over the past 15 years, I’ve seen every season this city has to offer. If you’re planning a Miami wedding (especially from out of state or out of the country), you’re probably wondering: When is the actual best month? And more importantly, what’s the weather really like?
Here’s what I’ll break down for you: the real weather in every season, what each month actually feels like to experience, and how to choose the timing that matches your priorities—whether that’s guaranteed sunshine, guest comfort, venue availability, or the best light for photos.

What’s the Best Month To Get Married in Miami? Understanding the Seasons
Miami doesn’t have ‘Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring’ the way other cities do. We have Hot & Humid, Perfect, and Hurricane Season. (I’m kidding. Mostly.)
As a Miami wedding photographer who has photographed celebrations in every month of the year, here’s the honest breakdown.
Winter Perfection (December – March)
December through March is my busiest season for a reason. I’ve photographed back-to-back weekend weddings because everyone wants this weather—and honestly? They’re not wrong.
Your out-of-town guests (especially the ones from up north escaping blizzards) will be thrilled. I’ve had guests from New York literally post Instagram stories about the “perfect 75-degree weather” while their friends back home were shoveling snow.
The trade-off? You’re competing with every other couple who also wants these months. If you’re flexible on your date, a Friday or Sunday can give you more venue options (Saturdays book up first, sometimes 18 months ahead).
Weather Reality:
- Temps: 68°F – 82°F (progressively warming)
- Humidity: Low to moderate (for Miami standards—which means actually comfortable)
- Rain: Minimal chances of rain
For Photography:
- Early sunsets in December, January, and February mean less daylight (plan accordingly)
- Golden hour happens around 5:30-6 pm—perfect timing for cocktail hour portraits
- Comfortable temperatures mean we can do longer outdoor photo sessions without anyone melting
Venue & Planning:
- This is THE busy season
- Outdoor wedding receptions are beautiful, and the weather is comfortable
- Venues fill up fast (especially Saturdays)
- Hotels may have higher rates during peak times
- Art Basel (early December): If you’re planning a South Beach wedding, be aware that Art Basel brings massive crowds, inflated hotel rates, and traffic congestion the first week of December. This affects hotel availability and prices significantly.
The Transition Months (April – May)
April weddings are essentially peak season lite—gorgeous weather and slightly better availability. May can be warm, but it’s still a great choice for a wedding (as long as you have a rain plan).
I’ve photographed stunning May weddings where brief afternoon showers cleared up just in time for golden hour, and the light afterward was beautiful.
Fair warning: If you’re doing a resort wedding in March or early April, you’ll have spring breakers around. Your wedding will be private, but the pool deck might be crowded with college students on vacation. Not a dealbreaker, just something to know going in.

- Temps: 75°F – 88°F (getting warmer, especially in May)
- Humidity: Rising but still manageable
- Rain: Increasing (May sees more afternoon showers)

- Longer daylight hours (sunset pushes to 7-7:30 pm by May)

- Spring break (March/April) means hotel crowds at beach resorts
- May requires solid rain backup plans
- These months are still comfortable for outdoor weddings
The Challenging Months (June – October)
Starting in June, we get daily afternoon thunderstorms. And it’s not just hot—it’s oppressive humidity where everyone is drenched in sweat within minutes of being outside. Then add hurricane season on top of that, with September and October being peak risk months.
I’ve photographed weddings in these months. They can be beautiful—but only if you go in with complete acceptance of what you’re signing up for. I’ve watched couples retreat to air-conditioned rooms between ceremony and reception just to survive. It can work, but you need to design your entire day around managing the heat.
If you’re planning an outdoor wedding during these months, you MUST have indoor backup options. Rain isn’t a possibility—it’s almost guaranteed.
Hurricane season means a storm could hit on your wedding day, potentially making it impossible for the celebration to happen. Make sure you have wedding insurance and understand your vendors’ contract clauses regarding weather.
Weather Reality:
- Temps: 82°F – 95°F (feels like 100°F+ with humidity)
- Humidity: 75-85% (oppressive—there’s no other word for it)
- Rain: DAILY afternoon thunderstorms (almost guaranteed June-October)
- Hurricane season: June 1 – November 30 (peak risk August-October)
For Photography:
- Makeup and hair touch-ups are constant
- Everyone will be sweating if they’re outside (it’s just the reality)
- Plan for indoor shooting locations during the hottest hours
Venue & Planning:
- Indoor backup
- Hurricane risk
- Wedding insurance is highly recommended
November: When Miami Weather Transforms
Here’s something important about November: While it’s technically part of hurricane season (which runs through November 30th), the weather transforms dramatically. By early November, and especially mid-November, those daily thunderstorms are rare, and the oppressive humidity breaks.
I’ve photographed beautiful November weddings where the weather was absolutely perfect—comfortable temperatures, low humidity, and that relief you can feel in the air after months of summer heat. Historically, the hurricane risk drops significantly after October, especially once you’re into mid-November.
Weather Reality:
- Temps: 73°F – 83°F (comfortable and improving throughout the month)
- Humidity: Dropping significantly
- Rain: Decreasing dramatically (occasional showers)
- Hurricane risk: Declining rapidly, especially after mid-November
For Photography:
- Comfortable shooting conditions (finally!)
- Gorgeous evening temperatures for golden hour

If you want beautiful weather: December – March
Peak season for a reason. Book early and enjoy amazing weather.
If you want good weather with more flexibility: April – May
Still beautiful, slightly warmer, and more available than peak winter.
If you’re considering June – October:
Be prepared to experience rain and high humidity. There are daily thunderstorms and hurricane risk.
If you want cooler weather and have a rain plan: November
The weather is cooler (especially mid-to-late November), humidity drops, and daily thunderstorms are rare.
