A Romantic Wedding Wrapped in Tropical Elegance at Villa Woodbine

Lauren and Todd came all the way from New York to celebrate what can only be described as a very romantic wedding at the always-gorgeous Villa Woodbine.

After getting engaged in NYC, they knew they wanted something that felt both romantic and tropical, and deeply connected to Lauren’s Miami roots.

Nestled in the heart of Coconut Grove and surrounded by lush gardens and Mediterranean architecture, Villa Woodbine was the perfect spot for their romantic celebration.

A Romantic Wedding with a Tropical Aesthetic:

With Lauren’s Cuban heritage and guests traveling in from across the country, she and Todd wanted their wedding to reflect a romantic, tropical aesthetic that felt both timeless and true to Miami.

The celebration began with vibrant, Art Deco–inspired invitations that nodded to the city’s old-school charm.

Todd wore a classic white tuxedo, and Lauren looked radiant in her Lazaro gown, a delicate design with petal embroidery cascading over layers of soft tulle. Every detail came together beautifully to create a celebration that was stylish, personal, and perfectly suited to Miami’s tropical backdrop.

First Look and Time for Romantic Portraits Around the Villa:

Every wedding is unique, and each couple has their own priorities when it comes to how they want to spend their time. As a photographer, one of my top priorities is understanding those needs and building a photo timeline that allows us to create the images my clients are dreaming of—without rushing or stress.

Thanks to a detailed client questionnaire I send during the planning process, I’m able to learn what matters most and craft a timeline that actually feels good.

For Lauren and Todd, having intentional time for portraits was important—but so was privacy. They wanted their romantic photos to feel calm. So, we scheduled their first look 90 minutes before guests arrived. This gave us time to explore the villa’s beautiful grounds without feeling rushed, and more importantly, gave them a quiet moment together before the celebration began.

A Garden Wedding Ceremony with a Twist:

Lauren and Todd chose to say their vows in front of a beautiful tree in the garden at Villa Woodbine—a setting that already felt intimate. But they added a modern twist: instead of a traditional straight aisle, they designed a curved path shaped by floral arrangements, creating a soft, romantic flow that felt both elegant and unexpected.

The floral palette featured tones of blush, pink, and white, brought to life through a gorgeous mix of pink anthuriums, garden roses, lisianthus, and lush greenery, perfectly suited to the tropical elegance of the day.

At the altar, a chuppah awaited the couple—a beautiful nod to Todd’s Jewish heritage and a meaningful way to blend traditions.

A Romantic Wedding Reception With a Tropical Flair:

To honor Lauren’s Cuban heritage, she and Todd incorporated thoughtful, playful touches throughout the reception—starting with the place card table. It featured fresh limes, classic dominoes, and a nostalgic tin of Café Bustelo, creating a moment that felt both personal and full of character.

The reception was held in the garden, transforming the ceremony space into an open-air celebration that was equal parts tropical and elegant. Centerpieces combined romantic florals with fresh fruit, giving the tables a warm, bodegón-inspired feel.
