Most of us, when we think about births we think about an intimate moment where emotions run high; there are tears, joy, pain, but always LOVE. But almost never, we think about hiring a professional photographer to document one of the most important milestones in our lives. Why is that?
Birth photography is not for everyone, but for the few that choose to have such special moment documented those images become priceless! And believe me, that peace of mind is worth having. Keep reading as I have some tips for both future mamas and photographers.
When Milena + Diego contacted me to be present on the birth of their first baby I was over the moon!
A little prayer to thank God for the miracle of life!
I adore the following images. Diego was the best support for Milena! He constantly told her how much he loves her and how proud he was of her. THERE WAS SO MUCH LOVE!!!!
Tip for photographers and future mamas: Make sure that you have talked to your photographer about all the possibilities and last minute things that can happen during a birth. In this case, I knew Milena was having a C-section and her Dr. had previously approved me to go in the surgery room with them.
Tip for future mamas: Make sure that the person you hire to photograph your birth has done this before. It could be a very overwhelming moment, plus, it is a very private moment so you want to be around a professional you trust.
Tip for photographers: Birth photography is truly photo-journalistic! There is no time to repeat a moment or an emotion, nor the kind of session where you can control the situation! You have been hired to capture raw emotions as they happen. Most importantly do not be intrusive!
Tip for Photographers: Make sure that you know what kind of photos your client wants. Not all women want to have the “National Geographic” shot of the actual birth! Discuss expectations and limitation prior to the birth day.
