Before we start let me introduce myself, I’m Carolina Guzik and I love working with awesome couples! I have been a wedding photographer for 10 years and I have photographed  100 + weddings.

Being that a photographer is one of the very first vendors a recently engaged couple hires, I’m here to help you out and guide you!

Wedding Planning Checklist

First things firsts, let’s find out your style!

Your style is what’s going to lead this process! What you love the most is what’s going to set the tone for your wedding day and the choices you make, so let’s start here: What does your dream wedding look like?

Now that you have a style in mind let’s get this planning going!

According to the style and vibe you want for your wedding it’s time to get your venue booked! (no venue means no party!)

If you are still looking for a venue here is a list of the top 34 Miami Wedding Venues you need to check ASAP

Once you have your venue and date set in paper you’re ready to find the vendors that will align with your overall vision of your day.

Find vendors that you like aesthetically, but most important find vendors that you have a good vibe with! These people will be in constant communication with you, so make sure you like all of them! Make sure you check out their reviews and connections also as it’s important to know your vendors have a good reputation in the industry.

Vendors to Hire As Soon as Possible: In no particular order, but keep in mind that these vendors are booked in average 10+ months in advance

Once you have your wedding team ready it’s time to get down to the details!

Choose your wedding dress: Make sure that your wedding dress matches the vibe and theme of your wedding.

Choose your wedding party: Invite your closest friends to be a part of your wedding day. This group of people should be your support system and help you navigate the wedding planning process.

Get that wedding guest list going: This could possibly be one of the most stressful parts of the wedding planning process, who gets an invite?

Does your friend Tammy from college get an invite even though you haven’t spoken to her in five years?? What about your aunt Kim? Last time you saw her when you were 10 years old. And although this choice is completely unique to each couple, my advice is that you should only invite the people that you LOVE and are meaningful to your relationship!

Long gone are the days where you needed to invite your third cousins and relatives that you saw only once while vacationing 25 years ago! Weddings are becoming more intimate these days and at the end of it all, you and your partner have the last say on who gets to share in your celebration.

Create a wedding website: This is the coolest and cheapest way to inform people you are getting married! Also, it’s the best place to share news and updates with your guests.

Plan your engagement session: Here are five reasons why you should get this done 🙂

Time to finalize the details of your day!

Finalize the details of your wedding day: Now that all your vendors are booked it’s time to finalize the details of your wedding day.

  • Send out your invitations
  • Schedule the tasting of your menu
  • Get a sample of your florals
  • Choose your linens, plates, and silverware
  • Meet with your officiant and finalize the details of your ceremony
  • Meet with the Dj/Band and go over the music you want at your party
  • Finalize the lighting and furniture decor you want for your party
  • Schedule a tryout of hair & makeup and an engagement session to capture you at your best.
  • Schedule a fitting for your wedding dress

As you can see there are a lot of layers and planning for a wedding! My advice to you it’s to take things easy, hire an event planner and do some daily meditation to keep your mind at ease 🙂
