How Can a Miami Wedding Planner Help You Save Money?

Wedding planners work with a network of professionals and know exactly what would be the best for you; this alone can save you thousands of dollars.

Wedding planners can advise you to stay away from unnecessary things that you don’t need, guide you with the right selection of vendors, advise how to better use your budget, and help you avoid mistakes that can translate into lost money.

What’s The Overall Job Of A Miami Wedding Planner?

Since I’m not a wedding planner, I reached out to planner extraordinaire Jessica Masi from Masi Events, and this is what she has to say:

“As a planner, our job is to create a memorable experience for our clients so they can make confident decisions. From assembling the perfect team for their overall vision to clearly communicating with the team of partners, infusing their wedding with personal details, and making sure that during their wedding they can be present and enjoy each and every moment.”Jessica Masi from Masi Events

What’s The Difference Between Full Planning And Partial Planning?

There are many wedding planners in South Florida, and the majority of them offer either Full wedding planning or Partial wedding planning packages, so let’s dive into the differences:

According to Abby Gallagher from Blue Orchid Events, the difference between a partial and full planning package is essentially where you are in the planning process, which is where we will be starting.

A Full Planning Package means that you and your planner are starting at or near the beginning with a budget assessment, helping you choose all of your vendors and contract negotiations, style of wedding, and even sometimes aesthetics. That is typically 12-16 months of work.

For partial planning, you are required to have your venue and 3 of your main vendors already booked to be eligible for a Partial Plan (ie, photographer, videographer, and DJ for example), and is typically 6-8 months of work.”Abby Gallagher from Blue Orchid Events

Keep in mind that many Miami wedding planners also offer Management Packages. These packages are mostly designed to help you get things in order a month prior to your wedding day and help you with the organization and management of logistics on the day of the wedding.

What’s The Difference Between A Venue Coordinator and a Wedding Planner?

Some wedding venues include a venue coordinator in their packages, while others do not. If your venue does, it’s important to understand the difference between a venue coordinator and a wedding planner.

To provide you with the most accurate information, I reached out to my dear friend and fantastic wedding planner, Valeria Daldi from JW Wedding Planning. Here’s what she had to say:

“A wedding planner works for you and the venue coordinator works for the venue.

The venue coordinator’s main focus is anything relating to the venue and making sure the venue’s staff is doing what they’re supposed to do. A venue coordinator is not a wedding planner and they’re not certified. They also arrive a few hours before the wedding starts and they leave right after dinner is served. If your venue has multiple events going on at once, they are usually jumping from one event to the other.

The wedding planner and the venue coordinator work together to make sure the wedding runs smoothly and according to the wedding vision.

Your wedding planner will handle all the pre-planning, wedding design, logistics, timeline, floor plan(s), hiring and managing all of the vendors contracted (including vendor meetings), budget and payments, RSVPs, and final counts, setting up personal items, and all your wedding needs. They’ll be involved in every aspect of your wedding so you can have a stress-free wedding day.

Always keep in mind that the wedding planner’s main priority is you, while the venue coordinator’s priority is the venue.”Valeria Daldi From JW Wedding Planning

Questions to Ask A Miami Wedding Planner:

I want to make sure you have the best tools and advice when planning your wedding. So, to give you the most accurate and helpful info, I reached out to my friend — and wedding planner extraordinaire — Gigi Agresti from Events By Gigi. She shared a list of great questions every couple should ask when interviewing a potential wedding planner:

  • When do your services officially begin?
  • Are we limited in how many times we can meet or schedule calls before the wedding?
  • What’s your preferred method of communication — email, text, or phone calls?
  • How many weddings do you typically plan or manage in a year?
  • Do you take on more than one wedding per day?
  • Do you require your couples to have a specific budget minimum?
  • How many team members will be there on the wedding day?
  • What systems or processes do you use to keep your couples organized and on track throughout planning?

How Much Does a Wedding Planner in Miami Cost?

One of the most common questions couples ask is about pricing, and honestly, it varies quite a bit.

I reached out to a local planner for insight, and she explained that pricing depends on a few key factors: the level of service, the time of year, the size of the wedding, and how complex the logistics are.

Some planners charge a flat fee, while others work off a percentage of your overall wedding budget.

Many full-service planners — especially those offering both planning and design — have a starting price of around $20,000. That number can increase based on guest count, travel involved, custom elements, or the overall scope of the event.

If you’re looking for something more tailored (like partial planning or month-of coordination), the pricing structure may be different, and some planners offer more flexible packages. The best way to find out what fits your needs and budget is to reach out, ask about their process, and have an open conversation about expectations.
